Communications

Our award-winning department consists of a group of professional, creative artists, writers, technicians and support staff who strive to deliver excellent customer service and expand public understanding of SUSD’s value and mission.

The Communications Office is responsible for advancing the reputation and priorities of the Sunnyside Unified School District through internal and external communications, media relations, marketing and public outreach. Our department serves as a link between the school district and public audiences; including, parents, students, employees, volunteers, tax payers, businesses, governments, and the media. We are also the first line of communication in the event of an emergency and serve as a resource for our schools and a portal for the community.

Our Services

  • The Sunnyside Unified School District brand is strong and has been built on clear positioning and consistent storytelling. Our role is to focus and clearly articulate the district brand in order to maintain our unique and authentic competitive advantage. We strive to be the expert resource by providing tools to help the district and each school successfully implement and present our brand. Brand Guidelines

  • Our graphic designer helps maintain our brand standards by designing marketing pieces that help to promote our district and school individually. Our print shop can produce black and white and color jobs in various sizes and types of paper.

  • In order for our district to grow and retain staff and students, we must build strong customer relationships. With a comprehensive, integrated marketing plan, we can effectively communicate our mission, values and messages in ways that speak to our target audience. Within our marketing plan, we strategically invest in advertising, event outreach and earned media to share the successes in our district.

  • The media is a partner in sharing information about the District, schools, our educational goals and our accomplishments. In order to maintain a unified voice for all district communications, it is important that all media efforts be coordinated through the Communications Office.

  • Our department has the capability to produce videos that support the district’s marketing and public relations goals. We also photograph major district and school events.

  • We share good news and important updates using the district social media channels through Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Many SUSD schools also share posts on school specific social media channels.
    Social Media Policy

  • Our department assists with the planning and promotion of special events, like Star & Pride, Retirement Ceremony, Superintendent’s Student Advisory, Opening Day, Leadership Summit and more.

  • We establish relationships with local businesses and community partners who have an interest in supporting our district.

  • Our department manages public records requests; public records of the District will be open for inspection by any person in accordance with Arizona Public Records Law. The SUSD Governing Board recognizes the right of the public to information concerning its actions, its policies, and the details of its educational and business operations. Records Requests
