In collaboration with American Eat Company, the Sunnyside Unified School District presents ‘Sabor’. This FREE community event will take place on Wednesday May 2nd at Sunnyside High School from 4:30-7:00 p.m. As in previous years the event will feature a student project showcase, student musical performances, and a presence from community partners.

Co-founded by Sunnyside High School graduate, Guillermo Gallegos and two local partners, the addition of American Eat Company to our event will allow our District to significantly expand our food offerings and attract more families to the event.

Gallegos and his partner Jesus Bonillas were immediately excited by the idea of bringing their concept back to their roots. After all, the origin story behind the talk-of-the-town food court has its roots in the values that define a community. Conscious of gentrification as downtown development began to spread south of 22nd street, the pair of entrepreneurs purchased the once local butcher shop, American Meat Company as a placeholder and began to craft an idea for an eatery that was more inclusive and reflective of the values and history of that community. "Tucson is ready for something like this. We've been to a few of the neighborhood meetings and expressed what we are doing and make sure they [community] are a part of this," said Gallegos in a recent interview with Arizona Public Media.
