Aviation and Military Science (AFJROTC)
AUGUST 6, 2018 / MODIFIED SEP 5, 2018 10:37 AM

Desert View’s Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) is a program designed to develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community. AFJROTC offers a strong leadership program that teaches character education, student achievement, wellness, leadership, and diversity. Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of extracurricular club activities including color guard, drill team, Orienteering, Kitty Hawk - a military honor society and Raiders - physical training focused club. It is important to note that there is no military obligation for those who choose to participate

Fact:

Upon completion of AFJROTC academic requirements, two types of certificates may be awarded: A Certificate of Completion is awarded for successful completion of three or four years. A Certificate of Training is awarded for successful completion of two years. All branches of the service recognize the AFJROTC three year certificate for increased rank when enlisting and some recognize the two year certificate. Students who complete three years of AFJROTC, and then go on to ROTC at the college level, may receive credit for and be excused from the first year of the ROTC four-year college program.
