SMART Goals
Now that we have identified our strategic initiatives, we have to turn our attention to developing several goals that will help us measure our improvement and ultimate success. SUSD will identify SMART goals for each Blueprint initiative. SMART is an acronym that has a number of slightly different variations, which can be used to provide a more comprehensive definition for goal-setting.
SMART goals let us monitor which of our efforts are making a difference and by how much. They are:
Strategic and Specific
Linked to strategic priorities that are part of a larger vision of success for the entire school district.
Measurable
Being able to measure a change in results to determine whether actions resulted in the kind of difference we wanted.
Attainable
Setting a goal that is challenging yet attainable.
Results-based
Aimed at specific outcomes that can be measured or observed.
Time-bound
A timeline for results. The timeline should include assessments at 30, 60 and 90 days, and at the end of the year.
