Los Niños Hair Drive
Twenty-seven Los Niños Elementary students, parents and staff, including Principal Dedee Krause, will have their hair cut Monday, May 21, to donate to Pantene Great Lengths for wigs. The Hair Drive is in memory of Gerry Pionessa, Los Niños librarian for 17 years until she lost her battle with cancer a year ago.
Los Ninos to be site of Rodel video
The Rodel Foundation and a video production team from Cox Communications will be at Los Ninos Elementary School on Thursday, February 16, 2012 to interview Principal Dedee Krause and other Rodel educators, and to videotape in classrooms and around the school. Ms. Krause was named a Rodel Aspiring Principal in 2009-10 when she was at Elvira Elementary School.
Shyann Kindness hosts Christmas for 200 Los Niños families
The Shyann Kindness Project, in partnership with Starbucks, will provide a Christmas party for 200 Los Niños Elementary School students and their families on Saturday, December 17, 2011. The party will include free haircuts, a free oil change for every family, lunch, an Illusionist show, face painting, pictures with Santa, a balloon artist, arts and crafts, and more. More »
Rising Star Gallery featuring work by Los Ninos and Rivera students
Currently on exhibit in the Rising Star Gallery are works of art by student artists from Los Niños and Rosemarie Rivera elementary schools. Becky Shipe is the art teacher at Los Niños and Zoe Schreiber is the art teacher at Rivera. The Rising Star Gallery is in the SUSD Administration Building, 2238 E. Ginter Road.

Los Niños Elementary raises funds for the American Heart Association
Los Niños Elementary students recently participated in the American Heart Association's Jump Rope for Heart Program, during which they learned new jump-roping skills, learned about their hearts and how to keep them healthy, and raised money to help fight heart disease. The school raised $2,694.51, which will go to help fund new medicines, treatments and research for those fighting heart disease.
