Eighth Grade Digital Scholars

Setting the stage early for eighth graders is an important step in their projected success in high school.

Beginning in the spring of 2010, 8th grade students who academically achieve the 4 A’s (Academics, Activities, Attendance, and Attitude) will receive a netbook on the first day of high school.

  • Achievement—3.0 or higher GPA in the second semester
  • Attendance—95% or higher
  • Attitude—No out-of-school suspensions
  • Activity—Participation in an extracurricular activity

The 3.0 GPA is a higher requirement than Digital Advantage students who earned computers after their first semester of high school. Students in this digital cohort will have access to digital learning experiences, and ultimately become student ambassadors of digital and technological transformation.
