Drexel students raise funds for Pennies for Patients

Drexel Elementary students raised $1,915.20 through the Pennies for Patients drive. The money will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

New Drexel and Sunnyside High artists on display in Rising Star Gallery

Now on display at the Administration Building’s Rising Star Gallery is a collection of Dia de los Muertos pieces created by 4th- and 5th-grade students at Drexel Elementary. Nancy Murray is the art teacher at Drexel. Also on display is the black-and-white photo collection, "Light Painters," by Sumaya Frick’s photography students at Sunnyside High.

Project Astro at Drexel

Drexel Elementary School teacher Rosa Watson is participating in Project Astro, a national program sponsored by the National Optical Astronomy Observatory. Drexel students work with director and playwright, develop scripts

Students in Larisa Velasco’s class at Drexel Elementary School are participating in The Coyote y Culbra Youth Project: Wind in the Shadows, an educational outreach program in which students work with director Alida Wilson Gunn and playwright Toni Press Coffman to develop scripts reflecting their own life experiences which will be acted out by professional actors.
