On November 17, 2004, the School Facilities Board approved Sunnyside Unified School District’s 5-Year Building Renewal Plan. The approval will enable the district funding of approximately $1,077,958 for the first year of the plan.

The purpose of the Five Year Building Renewal Plan is to project the major maintenance needs over a five year period. Building renewal projects are broken into eight major categories: Roofing, HVAC (heating ventilation and air conditioning), Electrical, Plumbing, Surfaces (i.e. carpet, ceiling tile, drywall/wall coverings etc.), Special Systems (i.e. fire alarm system, sprinkler system, stage lighting etc.), Special Equipment (i.e. bleacher seating, kilns, lockers, etc.) and General Renovation.
