CTE/JTED vans deliver a message
The Sunnyside District’s CTE/JTED program invested in four vans to transport students and to promote Career & Technical Education and the Joint Technological Education District.

Open Enrollment is here! Open Enrollment occurs from May 1, 2012 - May 31, 2012.
Your Benefit changes/elections made during Open Enrollment will be effective September 1, 2012. If you do not wish to make any changes, you do not have to do anything - your current elections will roll-over (as always, FSA contributions must re-elected every year). More »
2nd Annual Family Resource & Wellness Center Easter Food Drive
The Sunnyside District Family Resource and Wellness Center (FRWC) hosted the second annual FRWC Easter Food Drive April 7-8; the drive was sponsored by the Midtown Sertoma Club of Tucson. A total of 48 Easter food boxes were distributed to 24 Sunnyside District families, double the number from last year.

SERTOMA and FRWC 5K Run and Walk
SERTOMA of Tucson, a partner of the Sunnyside District’s Family Resource & Wellness Center, is a group of 37 Tucsonans who joined together to contribute to the needs of the community. SERTOMA has provided assistance to the Center in the form of food boxes the past two years. Once again this year SERTOMA plans to assist the Sunnyside community with Easter food boxes. More »

2011-2012 School Year
The 2011-2012 school year is the second year of the five year phase out of the Career Ladder program.
All Career Ladder participants will complete written reports. The scores from the written reports will be used to determine placement. These scores will establish current, upward or downward placement on the ladder. More »
New student records/transcripts requests handled by IT department
Effective July 1, 2011 all Student Records/Transcripts Requests will be handled by the Information Technologies Department located in the District Administration Building at 2238 E. Ginter Road. All forms, payments, and questions will be handled by Josephina Gonzalez or Debbie Garrison.

TMC donates booster seats
Thank you to Tucson Medical Center’s Community Program for offering free booster seats to families in the Sunnyside community. A total of 108 children received booster seats at a special event May 17 at Sunnyside High. Prevention Program Assistant Bernadette Martin coordinated the event.

The Sunnyside Family Resource and Wellness Center (FRWC) aims to build stronger families and schools by providing child and family counseling, health education and social services which include shoe and clothing bank assistance, eyeglass assistance and parenting classes. More »
Parents as Teachers to receive $25,000 grant
The Sunnyside District’s Parents as Teachers (PAT) program will receive a $25,000 grant from Social Venture Partners Greater Tucson. The PAT coordinator is Joan Katz.
Ocotillo teacher selected by Office Max for "A Day Made Better" award
Ocotillo teacher Gabriela Pierson was selected for the Office Max "A Day Made Better" award and was presented with $1,500 in school supplies, including a digital camera and new desk chair. Representatives from Office Max surprised Gabriela with the award at a special presentation on October 5, 2010.

Parents as Teachers receives $5K grant
The Sunnyside District Parents as Teachers program received a $5,000 grant again this year from the Long Realty Cares Foundation. The grant money will be used to fund the Fathers Matter program, purchase literacy materials and provide home visits during the month of June.
Parents As Teachers featured in Arizona Daily Star
The Sunnyside District Parents As Teachers program was featured in the Arizona Daily Star 12-30-09 for receiving two grants totaling $235K. Joan Katz is the program coordinator. More »
