Family Resource and Wellness Center

The Family Resource and Wellness Center (FRWC) provides educational, mental health, recereational and social services to SUSD children, adults and families.  Funding for the FRWC comes from Title 1, United Way, grants from education, human service, mental health, and prevention sources, both public and private.

Parent As Teachers (PAT)

A parent is a child's first and most important teacher 

PAT is a nationally known, research-based program established in Missiouri in 1981.  PAT operates locally, in 50 states and 5 countries.  PAT is the first early childhood program to offer neuroscience-based curriculum, bridging the gap between neuroscience and education to enhance parenting and improve outcomes for children.  PAT currently serves 327 families and 422 children. 

  • Vision:  All chidren will learn and grow and develop to realize their full potential.
  • Mission:  To provide the information, support and encouragement parents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life.

Expecting parents, and parents with children birth to 5 years of age residing in the Sunnyside Unified School District are eligible for the program.

 

Family Literacy Program

“Teach the parent, reach the child.”

The Family Literacy Program is a collaboration between SUSD and Pima Community College Adult Education.  In the Family Literacy Program, both parents and their children attend classes together.  Parents work toward earning a GED, speaking better English, improving parenting skills and getting job skills.
