Parent Participation, Transportation & Activities

Parent Participation
We believe parental and family involvement is important. We encourage parents to be involved with their children through home programs, home visits and classroom programs and visitation.

Description of Activities
Each teacher has a posting in the classroom of the activities during a typical day. Lesson plans are also available on the teacher’s desk or posted on the board for parents and other visitors.

Community-Based Instruction (Field Trip Policy)
Community-based instruction will be incorporated in the curriculum during the school year. Parents will receive advance notification of each field trip and will be required to sign a permission slip enabling their child to attend. Parent volunteers may also be required. There may be one community-based outing per month depending upon the classroom’s ability to gain from such experiences. The District will provide a school bus and driver for each field trip. Children will have school and number identification visible and their names will be out of sight.

Transportation
Bus transportation to and from school will be offered to all children who qualify for the program. Parents may choose to have the District transport the children or the parents may transport their own child.

If you have any questions, you may contact the Preschool Special Education Office at 545-3670. The office is located in the Ocotillo Elementary School. The secretary of the program is Sylvia Mendoza and the coordinator is Patti Snyder.
