Homework Tips

Teachers depend on parents to ensure that homework homework is completed each day!

Here are some tips to help your child complete their homework:

  • SET THE MOOD

Provide an area that is well lit, organized and clean.  It should be quiet and       away from TV and other distractions.  Be available in case your child has questions.

  • STOCK UP ON SUPPLIES

Pencils and pens; highlighters; crayons; paper; tape; scissors; a ruler; a dictionary and thesaurus

  • MAKE IT ROUTINE

Have your child study in the same area each day.  Help your child decide the best time to study each day.  Let your child decide if they would like to complete the harder or easier tasks first.  If your child has no homework, have your child read for at least 30 minutes instead.

  • BE POSITIVE
  • CHECK YOUR CHILD'S WORK
  • ASK FOR ASSIATNCE

If your child is struggling with homework and you are unable to help, consider getting assistance from a tutor, a homework helpline, or by asking your child's teacher

Your child may need some downtime after school, so ensure that your child gets at least 20-30 minutes to relax or play before starting homework.
