Esperanza Elementary Parent Involvement Policy
In accordance with the NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND OF 2002, Esperanza Elementary School-Wide Program has adopted the following policies regarding PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT:
· All communications, to the extent possible, will be sent in a language and form that parents can understand including, but not limited to Title I Program activities, parental involvement opportunities, and meetings.
· At the first school-wide parent meeting the Title I Program will be presented and explained including requirements and parent involvement rights.
· Open, flexible Site Council meetings that permit meaningful parent involvement will be held throughout the school year to plan, review, improve, and evaluate the success of the Title I Program.
· Parents will be given the opportunity to participate in a Needs Assessment Survey. Resources, planning, materials and training will be shared to enable participation (school and home) in their child’s education. (i.e., literacy, technology)
· Parents will be assisted in a timely manner, in understanding goals, standards, curriculum, assessments, monitoring procedures, and decision making to coordinate and participate in their child’s education.
· Parents will be provided and/or initiate opportunities for conferences, sharing, information, and participating in their child’s program with timely staff responses to suggestions, i.e., report cards, progress reports, and assessments.
· Parents will be involved in the planning, implementation, and review of a High Student Academic Achievement School-Parent Compact, which outlines how schools, parents, and students will share responsibility for ensuring student achievement.
· All parents are requested to share the educational responsibility with staff members and students in implementing performance standards and supporting their child’s learning.
· All staff members and support personnel with the assistance of parents will be educated on the benefits of building and continuously extending ties between the school and community.
