Bio and Mission

Keith E. Maynard…

Some 23 years ago, I started my teaching career at Maxwell Middle School. Over a six years period expanded my experiences by working as a Curriculum Specialist/Instructional Coach at Peter Howell Elementary School and Pistor Middle School (TUSD) – and now have the unique opportunity of working in the Sunnyside Unified School District as the K-12 Math Coordinator. It is my goal to support sites and coaches in the development of a math culture that ensures quality first math instruction, an aligned curriculum, and fully implemented interventions.  I completed my BA in Elementary Education at the University of Arizona, my MA in Language, Reading, and Culture at the UA, and ABD in a doctoral program, Educational Leadership Program at the University.

Over the past several years I have continued to grow professionally by attending seminars and workshops locally and at a national level. Working with colleagues I have been able to engage in professional conversations challenging converntions while building a deeper understanding and appreciation for the challenges we face in the field of education.

I’ve spent summer vacation relaxing and learning how to play Texas Hold’em - which has just recently been added to Collegiate Dictionary. When I am not taking classes or traveling I spend my free time in Tucson reading, enjoying family and friends and hanging out with Maya and Molly, our spoiled dachshunds.

“As a professional educator, my mission is to foster and participate in a community devoted to maximizing the potential of each member.”
