Throughout the Sunnyside District, there is a strong emphasis on reading and math as the foundation for academic achievement. At the elementary level, using programs such as Reading First, and Success for All, the goal is to have students reading at grade level before they go on to middle school. At the middle school level, incentive programs and intervention strategies encourage students to increase their reading power.

At the elementary schools math programs such as Everyday Math and Family Math Nights, to Math Counts clubs at every middle school, and advanced courses at the high schools are contributing to the success of all our students.
